License: Must be certified.

Certifications: BLS required.

Description: Qualified candidate will function under the direct supervision of an RN. The candidate will assist in nursing care and preparation of the surgical patient. This includes performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards and policies of the department. Candidate will perform technical duties related to scrub personnel. Responsibilities include precise and efficient reaction to all situations. Candidate will assist with departmental work as assigned. Surgical techs have a vital role in creating and maintaining a sterile surgical room. They ensure that surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely. Additionally, they assist surgeons during surgical procedures. Must arrive within 1/2 hour of being called in. May be asked to precept new staff. Knowledge in the use of cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection of equipment and instrumentation utilized in the clinical operating room setting is preferred.
