As a Truck Driver with WCTractor, you will be responsible for managing the transport of construction and ag equipment between locations, typically operating a flatbed truck and trailer, with vehicles ranging from 3/4 Ton trucks up to 18 Wheelers depending on the load. This role requires precision and care, including maneuvering in tight spaces at customer sites and dealership lots, and regularly interacting face-to-face with customers and team members. Safety is a top priority in everything we do.Class A Truck Driver ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include loading and properly securing equipment, safely transporting equipment between locations, and communicating with WCTractor team members and customers on a regular basis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Maintain regular and predictable attendanceUphold and promote a safe and productive work environmentTransport tractors and equipment over the road to and from stores and customer locations, using vehicles ranging from 3/4 Ton trucks up to 18 Wheelers depending on the loadInspect vehicle and trailer for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenancePlan routes and meet delivery schedulesDocument and log appropriate work/rest periods and miles drivenComply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as company policies and proceduresManeuver trucks and trailers into tight loading or unloading positions at customer sites and dealership locationsCollect and verify delivery instructionsCommunicate professionally and courteously with customers during pickups and deliveriesReport defects, accidents, or violations in a timely mannerClass A CDL Truck Driver QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentTrucking school diplomaValid Class A CDL license in good standingProven work experience as a truck driver; flatbed and equipment hauling experience preferredExtensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulationsNo recent moving or driving violationsWilling to submit to DOT regulations and requirementsStrong customer service skills and professional communicationClass A CDL Truck Driver Working ConditionsWork normally performed in a vehicle, shop, or outdoor setting; home daily with occasional overtime or weekend work as neededAbility to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplaceMust maintain a valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record and all certification requirements for operating material handling equipment as necessaryLocal routes; minimal to no overnight travel requiredClass A CDL Truck Driver Physical RequirementsMust continually be able to lift and handle heavy loads up to 70-100 lbs., and stand for extended periods of timeMust have good eyesight (correctable to 20/20) and normal hearing for safety requirements and troubleshooting equipmentRequires sufficient visual acuity, dexterity, and coordination to safely and efficiently operate machineryMust be able to tolerate temperature shifts inherent to an outside environmentPosition may require walking, standing, stooping, and transporting materials or parts on a regular basis, up to OSHA limitsWhy WCTractor?WCTractor has been family-owned and operated since 1939, and we've built our reputation by taking care of our customers and our people.
