Director of Laboratory Services The Director of Laboratory Services supports the Vice President of Laboratory Services in overseeing daily operations and advancing clinical, business, and technical initiatives across CNE's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. They contribute to tactical and strategic planning, ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and provide operational problem resolution and system support across departments and vendors. The Director leads a designated laboratory section, providing scientific and technical oversight while managing staff, equipment, supplies, and the section's financial budget. Duties & Responsibilities Ensures alignment of initiatives and activities in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and other departments within the Operating Unit. In conjunction with the Vice President of the Laboratory for CNE and the Clinical Leadership Team, is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans including fiscal planning and productivity reporting. Serves as a project manager and participates in the completion of projects identified by laboratory leadership to support department/system strategic plan objectives. Serves as the "go to" person for prompt resolution of day-to-day issues within the laboratory that have been escalated from laboratory management. Communicates issues and resolutions to the laboratory leadership. Provides technical and scientific oversight for the laboratory. Responsible for the understanding and application of policies and procedures, compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Responsible for providing problem resolution and system support within the Department, across departments, and with vendors. Supports performance improvement activities. Manages Human Resources for the laboratory personnel. Manages equipment and supplies for the laboratory. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred; Field of study: biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science Minimum 5 to 7 Years of lab management experience Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized certifying agency Advanced knowledge of biomedical equipment, laboratory instrumentation, and machinery operations, including diagnostics, maintenance, and repair. Comprehensive understanding of clinical and pathology laboratory disciplines, including cytology, histology, chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology. Specialized expertise in quality control, continuous improvement practices, and compliance with accreditation standards. Thorough knowledge of safety, infection control, and regulatory procedures to ensure compliant and risk‑aware operations. Strong ability to train, develop, and support employees in technical and procedural competencies. Excellent presentation, communication, organization, and project management skills, with a demonstrated commitment to a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
