Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. Oversees surgical team activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and delivering high-quality patient care throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
• Monitor and assess patient vital signs and condition before, during, and after surgery.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
• Implement aseptic techniques and maintain strict infection control standards.
• Educate patients and their families about preoperative and postoperative care instructions.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in medical records and participate in postoperative recovery and discharge planning.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Hold current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Prior experience in an operating room setting is preferred.
• Demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of surgical procedures.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and handle high-pressure situations.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
