Supply Chain Director

Corporate Role Overview All partner relations within a particular category are the responsibility of the Director – Supply Chain. The Director is responsible for the financial performance of a particular product category. Profitability will be measured on several components including field sales margin, vendor rebates, vendor payment terms and vendor marketing contributions such as promotion allowances, sample allowances, etc. The Director monitors the performance of vendors and products within a category and reviews potential product additions that will improve the category’s performance. The Director works very closely with the Replenishment Team to ensure efficient delivery and proper inventory levels of the products in the category and with Marketing to create support materials that assist in the sales of the category. Strong ethics and negotiation skills are required for this role. Sales or supplier management experience in the category is required to ensure understanding of the field sales needs. The right candidate possesses professional presence and communication skills and is collaborative, analytical, detailed‑oriented and service‑minded. This individual represents Heritage to a large section of our vendor community. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Supplier Relations: Develop and manage relationships with existing and potential vendors. Review annually to determine strategic value to the organization. Conduct a strategic partner evaluation annually to determine rationalization of vendors and SKUs. Negotiations: Negotiate financial components including price, rebate, payment terms, prepaid freight, marketing allowances (promos, coupons, samples). Negotiate legal contract language in supply agreements in cooperation with the legal department. Pricing Support: Provide market data and insights to assist the centralized pricing team in determining selling prices at a market level. Marketing: Develop marketing materials such as catalogs, sales sheets, branding and logo development. Ensure timeliness of marketing support materials to field sales. Sales Support: Provide product and sales training to the field sales staff and participate in trade shows that promote the category and assist with the sales process for key accounts. Support warranty resolution when unusual circumstances arise. Profitability: Review sales, margin, and gross profit dollars on a weekly basis. Determine opportunities for sales, margin, and gross profit improvement. Partner with inventory management to ensure inventory levels are equitable to overall profitability. Product Availability: Set up multiple sources of supply to ensure availability. Set up regional sources of supply when needed. International Market Knowledge: Understand global supply and raw material impact on pricing trends. Evaluate the impact of all applicable laws governing imports to ensure compliance.
