Locum Cardiothoracic ICU / MICU Advanced Practice Provider

Nocturnist APP Cardiothoracic & Medical Critical Care (Locum, Missouri)

Palm Health Resources is hiring an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) for a full-time locum nocturnist role covering both Cardiothoracic Critical Care and Medical Critical Care at a Missouri hospital. This is an initial 6-month contract, starting as soon as Missouri licensure and hospital credentialing are complete.

Schedule

7 on / 7 off, 10-12-hour overnight shifts

Full-time locum assignment

6-month initial contract, with potential for extension

Responsibilities

Provide overnight management of critically ill patients in the CT ICU and Medical ICU, working with on-call intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons

Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive titration, bleeding assessment, and ventilator management

Evaluate and manage medical ICU patients with conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, and multi-organ dysfunction

Respond to rapid responses, codes, and overnight admissions

Perform bedside procedures within scope and credentialed privileges (e.g., arterial lines, central lines)

Communicate changes in patient status to attending physicians and ensure clear handoffs with day teams

Complete accurate, timely documentation in the EMR

Requirements

Active PA (NCCPA) or NP (ACNP-BC or equivalent acute care certification)

Missouri license, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one

Active BLS and ACLS certification

Recent ICU experience required; cardiothoracic or CVICU experience strongly preferred

Comfortable working independently overnight in a high-acuity setting
