Institutional Research Specialist (Data Analyst)

The City University of New York (CUNY) is hiring an Institutional Research Specialist (Data Analyst) for Baruch College to help strengthen evidence-based decision-making across the institution. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, this role focuses on monitoring strategic plan performance indicators, producing reliable statistics, and supporting mandated reporting and accreditation-related work. This onsite, full-time position in New York, NY will also support survey administration and program review efforts, while keeping institutional research practices up to date with current higher education and accreditation trends. Key Responsibilities Monitor, track, and report key performance indicators tied to the institution’s strategic plan Produce accurate, accessible statistics for both internal and external stakeholders Partner with the Director of IR on data collection and administration of student and faculty surveys Fulfill assigned ad hoc data and reporting requests from college constituencies Stay current on higher education data and accreditation trends through environmental scans, evaluation of national research, white papers, and other relevant literature on institutional effectiveness Support institutional research needs for academic departments and schools undergoing program review Compile, maintain, and analyze institutional data in multiple formats Load, extract, edit, and evaluate data for reporting and analytics Maintain selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy Produce reports and metrics based on departmental needs, including time-critical ad hoc requests May participate in internal and external surveys as needed May consult with others on methodology design for research projects Perform related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience Experience with accreditation standards and processes is expected Master’s degree in data analytics, data visualization, information systems, or a related field Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data Strong communication skills, including the ability to present and describe data verbally and visually Demonstrated ability to manage strict deadlines, multiple priorities, and concurrent projects Facility with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar Advanced Excel functions and statistical software such as R, SPSS, or STATA (or similar) Knowledge of SQL, Python, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or other similar ERP systems Experience using AI tools, automation, or workflow technologies to support institutional research, data reporting, or related administrative processes Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship Technologies Tableau, Power BI, Excel
