Senior Network Engineer with TS/SCI, FS (Network Engineering, Associate)

Summary The MIL Corporation is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with TS/SCI, FS (Network Engineering, Associate) to support a federal government client in the Washington, DC metro area. This position currently requires a full on-site schedule. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements. This position is currently unfunded and is being posted in anticipation of a future contract award and funding approval. We are proactively identifying and engaging with qualified candidates. Responsibilities The on-site Network Engineer shall perform the following minimum duties:Assisting the System AdministratorsAssisting the Lead Network Engineer in developing and implementing IT/network plansManaging network operations using simple network management protocol (SNMP) network management toolsDiagnosing and troubleshooting network problems with network protocol capture/decode analyzersPlanning and building network from open system interconnect (OSI) Layer 1 through Layer 3Managing TCP/IP internetworking connectivity to include addressing and subnettingMonitoring network as defined in the network monitoring planInstalling, configuring, updating and documenting the physical cable plant. Installing, configuring and managing networking hardware (switches, bridges, hubs, concentrators, transceivers). Installing, configuring and managing network security (firewalls, IP blocking).Configuring and managing virtual private networks (VPNs) Travel NoneRequired Qualifications Seven (7) years of intelligence community experience as a network engineer or network administratorSix (6) years' experience with Cisco switches and network hardwareWillingness and ability to perform layer 1 tasks as needed (pulling cable, racking/stacking, etc…)Strong troubleshooting skillsAbility to use MS Visio to produce network diagramsAbility to create and present presentations and other ad-hoc technical briefings as necessaryFamiliarity with virtual appliances (switches, firewalls, etc…)Must be able to survive and thrive in a fast-paced environmentDesired Qualifications 3-5 years of HANDS-ON network engineering experience in customer environmentStrong project management experience (i.e., ability to manage projects through their full lifecycle in order to meet deadlines)Familiarity with Storage Area Networking (SAN) and Fibre Channel protocols and standardsFamiliarity with Linux operating systemsFamiliarity with SolarWinds network management/monitoring toolFamiliarity with JIRAExperience working in a ‘mission-like’ environmentCloud familiarity (AWS, Azure) Education Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or four (4) years equivalent experience as network engineer or network technician.Clearance All applicants for this position must possess an active Top Secret/SCI with FS Poly clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL’s complete compensation package.
