Tool Room Technician (Non-Permanent)

Opportunity Description South Seattle College is looking to hire a Non-permanent Tool Room Technician (Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2) in the Workforce Instruction Department. Location: South Seattle College. Non-permanent position intended to support the department during a transitional period, approximately six to eight months, potentially leading to permanent placement. Salary Range: $49,452 - $64,728 annually. Initial placement typically between $54,432 and $60,120. Overview Under the supervision of the Dean of Workforce Instruction, the Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 supports day-to-day operations for the Automotive and Diesel laboratories, working closely with faculty and reporting to the Dean. Responsibilities include maintaining inventories, logs, and tools; managing check-in/check-out systems; coordinating with faculty for instructional requirements; and overseeing lab safety and equipment maintenance. Essential Functions Of The Position Prepare, set up, break down, and clean up automotive and diesel lab materials. Maintain check-in/check-out controls for tools and student toolboxes. Serve as primary contact for vehicle key log check-in and check-out. Coordinate with automotive and diesel faculty to meet instructional setup requirements. Plan laboratory assignments, schedules, and assist in lab activities and lecture demonstrations. Implement new experiments using standard techniques and procedures. Support logistics and safety, monitor wash stations, chemical cabinets, and coordinate purchases and invoicing. Test, operate, and perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment and instruments. Collaborate with facilities on hazardous waste removal. Estimate quantity and quality of supplies and materials, request procurement, and maintain adequate stock levels. Communicate and coordinate with Seattle Colleges District Finance and Accounting Department. Initiate, order, and maintain programmatic consumable needs. Coordinate and facilitate vehicle and equipment donation processes. Comply with safety policies, maintain MSDS notebooks, and ensure proper labeling of all materials. Qualifications & Candidate Profile Highly organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and team-oriented. Effective communication skills with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Ability to set up lab exercises and equipment correctly and efficiently. Working knowledge of automotive and diesel tools and laboratory equipment. Calm, organized, and focused while handling multiple workplace demands. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
