BMET Supervisor

Job Responsibilities Staff: Assist in the selection, development, scheduling, motivation, appraisal, and coaching of staff. Coordinate and direct staff, working with the director to develop work standards. Maintain staff professional growth through orientation, in‑service training, seminars, workshops, and continuing education. Provide operational leadership and possibly serve as temporary site manager in the absence of the Director. Maintain proper scheduling of assigned personnel and prioritize staff & resources for emergency response procedures regarding medical equipment. Planned Maintenance: Implement planned maintenance (PM) activities and evaluate PM procedures/processes. Report to the Director items affecting operations (present and future). Advise and participate in ad‑hoc committees on medical equipment issues as needed. Planning & Reporting: Assist in evaluating/updating the five‑year Capital Equipment Plan and ensure compliance of documentation (work orders, PM schedules, etc.). Coordinate evaluation of new and proposed equipment with the Clinical Engineer, recommend purchases and standardization. Perform maintenance and repairs of medical equipment as needed. In conjunction with the Director, develop and implement departmental goals and plans and provide leadership to personnel and technical issues. Enhance organizational performance by recommending improvements, performing new procedures, collecting data, and participating in department discussions. Promote knowledge transfer and technician development. Communication: Participate in various CCHMC committees covering equipment related issues. Maintain knowledge of new and current trends in health care equipment and technologies. Engage in continuing education and training to update technical and personal skills. Interface daily with Purchasing, Patient Services, and other Clinical/Lab/Research areas to manage the medical equipment inventory. Work with the Coordinator, Director, and Clinical Engineer to address daily concerns. Improve customer service skills, provide input to the database design and maintenance, maintain inventory accuracy, recommend reports for time tracking, PM completion, repair history, and technician schedules, analyze data to set priorities, and recommend equipment replacement based on lifecycle criteria. Safety: Ensure that work areas are organized and provide a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment. Job Qualifications Associate's degree in a related field 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline Preferred: Academic work aligned with Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Tech, BMET Associate Degree, or Military Training Preferred: BMET Certification Location: Burnet Campus Schedule: Full time Shift: Day (United States of America) Department: Clinical Engineering Employee Status: Regular
