REAL ID Requirement A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). Duties Maintaining daily construction logs. Preparing weekly progress reports. Ensuring necessary safety precautions are enforced and a safe working environment is maintained. Assisting higher‑graded technicians with construction inspection and field work activities. Entering data of project progress utilizing various computer programs. Requirements Selectee may be subject to a probationary period. ESEP appointees typically serve a two‑year trial period. U.S. citizenship is required. Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. The position may be a designated role covered by Public Law 101‑630, requiring contact or control over Indian children; any applicant found guilty of or pleading nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes is ineligible. Successful completion of an E‑Verify employment verification check is required. A viable bank account is required for electronic direct deposit of salary payment. Background Investigation Requirement This position requires successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. The investigation verifies identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information. Applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance and maintain regular communication with the assigned Personnel Security Specialist throughout the process. Prior to appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification; if one is a state‑issued ID or driver’s license, it must be REAL ID compliant. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer, and part‑time work that is directly related to construction, including drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, and related technical subjects. Applicants should clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Minimum Qualifications GS‑04: Six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience directly related to construction. OR Two years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, or related technical subjects, or engineering technician work such as electricity, material testing, or engineering mechanics. OR A combination of education and specialized experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements. GS‑05/06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, including interpreting plans and specifications or related construction work. For GS‑05: A full four‑year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology, or at least 24 semester hours in drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, or related technical subjects. For GS‑06: Experience interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting materials and workmanship. Time‑In‑Grade Merit Promotion candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time‑In‑Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). Education Submit a copy of transcripts or a list of courses including titles, credit hours, and grades. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package. Official transcripts will be required from all selectees prior to receiving an official offer. Only attendance or degrees from schools accredited by U.S. Department of Education institutions are credited. For foreign education, submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript. Additional Information Additional selection of candidates may be possible within 240 days from the date the certificate of eligibles was issued for this announcement.
