THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will support the maintenance and daily operations of State Forest lands while assisting with safety, equipment use, and emergency response. You will play an important role in protecting facilities, roads, and natural resources. As a seasonal Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will support the maintenance and daily operations of State Forest lands while assisting with safety, equipment use, and emergency response. You will play an important role in protecting facilities, roads, and natural resources. As a seasonal Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Upkeep: Clean and repair State Forest buildings, trails, boundaries, equipment, and tools
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and specialized machinery for forest maintenance
- Road Maintenance: Maintain safe, smooth, and properly drained forest roads and clear right-of-way areas
- Emergency Response: Assist with search and rescue, wildfire control, and other assigned emergency duties
- Forest Support Tasks: Help with snow removal, supply delivery, facility protection, and general forest management activities
- Fire Response: Maintain wildfire tools, reduce fire hazards, and assist with fire detection and suppression
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Mondays - OFF

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
