Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: One year of nursing experience License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Must-Have: Operating room experience, pediatric clinical nursing, patient care coordination, patient education Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports and is accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, or caregivers. Assesses the developmental level of the patient and factors affecting the ability to learn. Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in the revision of the plan of care. Participates in discussions with members of the interdisciplinary team in the evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues. Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisors. Is knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra- or interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems. Participates in promoting cost-effective care. Gives feedback to coworkers. Is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs. Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication with others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
