Licensed Practical Nurse

Overview Licensed Practical Nurse (250008I4) Location: Pickaway Correctional Institution, 11781 State Route 762, Orient, OH 43146. Salary: Starting pay approximately $60,000 based on shift assignments. Schedule: Full-time. Union: OCSEA. Responsibilities Provide patient care as directed, including direct medical procedures and medication administration. Document patient‑related care timely in the electronic health record and maintain patient medical records. Administer oral, intramuscular, and when certified, intravenous medication. Perform treatments, collect vital signs, urine, and other body fluid specimens, and may perform venipuncture. Assist with doctors’ sick calls, chronic care clinic management, and emergency response. Participate in patient care planning, multidisciplinary team meetings, and continuous quality improvement activities. Provide patient education on healthcare maintenance and disease prevention. Orient patients for release or transfer, completing appropriate summaries and ensuring discharge medication orders. Assist other healthcare staff, observe and support assistive personnel, investigate and document problem areas, and review shift reports. Perform and/or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies, and attend required training and orientation exercises. Assume duties of other nurses during absences and work overtime as required. Qualifications License to practice nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing under Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code. MDS certification issued by the American Association of Nurse Assessment & Coordination (ANNAC). Knowledge and experience in Basic Medical Procedures, Medical Charting, Medication Management, Direct Support, Cultural Awareness, Problem Solving, Customer Focus, Teamwork, and Confidentiality.
