The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and United Way.

QUALIFICATIONS / ATTRIBUTES:

The Massage Therapist must demonstrate the ability to be open to give and receive feedback in a respectful manner, be an active and respectful listener, be encouraging and supportive of new ideas and suggestions, be a user and receiver of varied means of communication and be consistent in their delivery of service and interactions with members and colleagues. This individual must also be timely, specific & clear with expectations, and hold one-self and others accountable. These qualities are expectations of the position and help the Levine JCC to maintain integrity and build a cohesive team.

We are seeking a licensed massage therapist interested in providing consistent, part-time availability within our wellness program. This opportunity is ideal for therapists who maintain schedules across multiple locations and are looking to add a steady, predictable placement to their week.

Our current need is for a therapist who can commit to one to two consistent days per week , with a defined block of available hours. Priority scheduling needs include Wednesday, and Thursday , with a strong preference for candidates who can offer weekend availability .

While we have an established membership base, this role is best suited for someone comfortable building and maintaining their schedule over time rather than expecting an immediately full client load. We aim to support therapists in developing a consistent following within our community through high-quality service and relationship building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Talk with clients about their symptoms, medical history, and desired results
• Evaluate clients to locate painful or tense areas of the body
• Manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body
• Provide clients with guidance on stretching, strengthening, overall relaxation, and how to improve their posture
• Document clients' conditions and progress
• Massage therapists use touch to treat clients' injuries and to promote the clients' general wellness. They use their hands, fingers, forearms, elbows, and sometimes feet to knead muscles and soft tissues of the body.
• Massage therapists may use lotions and oils, and massage tables or chairs, when treating a client. We offer 30, 60, and 90 minute massages to clients.
• Massage therapists talk with clients about what they hope to achieve through massage. They may suggest personalized treatment plans for their clients, including information about additional relaxation techniques to practice between sessions.
• Massage therapists can specialize in many different types of massage or modalities. Swedish massage, deep-tissue massage, and sports massage are just a few of the many modalities of massage therapy. Most massage therapists specialize in several modalities, which require different techniques.
• The type of massage given typically depends on the client's needs and physical condition. For example, massage therapists may use a special technique for elderly clients that they would not use for athletes. Some forms of massage are given solely to one type of client; for example, prenatal massage is given only to pregnant women.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

The Massage Therapist must:

Demonstrate skills in leadership, effective management strategies, and organization, creativity, and flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills necessary to work with adults.

Possess knowledge of or willingness to learn, Judaic culture and traditions including but not limited to Jewish holidays, rituals, and customs.

Possess the ability to articulate the influences of Judaic culture on our programs to members and staff. Be sensitive to cultural differences, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, effectively manage time and responsibilities, and understand individual leadership styles and their influence on the well-being of the department staff.

Must also have the ability to work as part of a team with other staff members and JCC members. Must promote high standards of program excellence; resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people; respond effectively to constructive criticism and give constructive feedback to colleagues, and ensure that an environment which fosters maximum physical, social, cognitive and emotional development is developed and maintained. Must be able to approach each day with a customer centric mindset and be able to engage and promote ongoing relationships.
