Description

The Front-End Warehouse Associate I – Guard Shack serves as the first point of contact for all incoming and outgoing truck drivers and visitors. This role is responsible for controlling facility access, verifying documentation, and supporting front-end warehouse operations to ensure safe, secure, and accurate movement of freight. The position also assists with receiving, inventory handling, and staging activities while maintaining compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, direct, and log truck arrivals and departures accurately.
  • Monitor security cameras and report suspicious activity or security concerns to QHSE or Management.
  • Verify delivery documentation and conduct quality checks against received goods.
  • Enter data accurately into company systems for delivery tracking, access control, and communication.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records for inbound and outbound deliveries.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain clean, organized, and secure Guard Shack work areas.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with training and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, TSA, DOT, and facility security requirements

BACKUP WAREHOUSE SUPPORT FUNCTIONS (AS NEEDED)

  • Assist with unloading materials, verifying packing slips, and reporting discrepancies when authorized.
  • Move materials to designated storage, staging, or processing areas using manual pallet jacks or forklifts (after certification) in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Sort and store materials based on size, temperature, product type, or customer requirements.
  • Label and mark materials with identifying details and verify accuracy.
  • Weigh and measure freight and verify part numbers and quantities.
  • Secure packages and apply required labels and markings for outbound shipments.
  • Prepare parcels and materials for outbound shipment.
  • Conduct inventory counts and assist with cycle counts as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse operations during peak periods or staffing shortages.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1–2 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, security, transportation, or operations support roles required.
  • Experience reviewing and verifying freight documentation such as Bills of Lading, packing slips, invoices, and delivery tickets.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to accurately log information and maintain records using computer-based systems; experience using warehouse or access systems (such as C2C) preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of facility security procedures, access control, and visitor management.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, TSA, DOT, and general warehouse safety standards preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic warehouse support functions such as unloading, staging, labeling, and measuring freight when authorized and trained.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks preferred; forklift certification (up to 12,000 lb capacity) preferred or ability to obtain and maintain certification if required.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and comply with standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in logs, documentation, and system entries.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to successfully complete required safety and regulatory training, including OSHA, TSA, and company-specific programs, within established timelines.
  • Must be able to successfully complete IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR hazardous materials training within 90 days of hire, with a minimum passing score of 90%.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a controlled access environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse, operations, and logistics teams.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous when interacting with drivers and visitors in high-traffic situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • This position does not have direct reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY EXPECTATIONS

  • Work is performed primarily in a guard shack, warehouse, and dock environment with frequent exposure to truck traffic, moving equipment, and varying noise levels.
  • Regular interaction with truck drivers, vendors, and internal staff in active dock and yard areas.
  • Work may occur in indoor, outdoor, or semi-covered areas depending on facility layout, weather, and delivery activity.
  • Required to follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, TSA security procedures, and site-specific work instructions at all times.
  • Must comply with facility access control procedures including ID verification, delivery authorization, and entry/exit logging.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when entering warehouse or dock areas, including steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility vests as required.
  • Expected to maintain clean, organized, and secure work areas in the guard shack and surrounding access zones.
  • Must remain alert and aware of surroundings while monitoring gates, cameras, and dock activity.
  • Required to immediately report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, or suspicious activity to QHSE or Management.
  • May be required to support warehouse operations during peak periods, provided proper training and authorization have been completed.
  • Must follow all hazardous materials awareness and site safety procedures when providing backup warehouse support.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach as required to perform access control and backup warehouse duties.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance when performing backup warehouse tasks.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit the guard shack and dock areas multiple times per shift.
  • Ability to visually inspect documentation, screens, freight, and surrounding areas for accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to operate computers, scanners, radios, and other office or warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions when required to support yard or dock operations.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional Saturdays, overtime, or adjusted hours as needed to meet operational demands.
