Overview
Construction Inspector II plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of treatment facility construction projects by providing advanced inspection services and technical oversight. This position is responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. As part of the Treatment Construction Team, the Construction Inspector II will focus on projects related to water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and related infrastructure. Position requires strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection techniques specific to treatment systems.
Responsibilities
• Performs daily on-site inspections of treatment facility construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes
• Verifies that construction materials and methods meet quality standards and contract requirements
• Maintains detailed daily activity reports, including work progress, site conditions, and any deviations or issues encountered
• Documents photographic evidence of construction milestones and deficiencies
• Serves as a liaison between contractors, engineers, and project managers to address field issues and ensure timely resolution
• Monitors contractor performance and adherence to safety and environmental regulations
• Reviews construction drawings, technical specifications, and submittals to ensure understanding of project scope and requirements
• Identify discrepancies or potential conflicts and recommend corrective actions
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and final walkthroughs
• Assist in verifying quantities for contractor pay applications and changing orders
• Ensures construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards
• Reports any non-compliance issues and support corrective actions
• Maintains organized records of inspections, correspondence, and project documentation for audit and closeout purposes
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Five (5) Years of Experience
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance
Preferred
• TCEQ Water Distribution Operator C and/or Wasterwater Collection Operator C
• Water Utilities experience
