FNP Residency: Lead Primary Care for Underserved Communities

Position Overview Salary range: The salary for this position effective 10/1/26 is $81,500. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. "Off‑scale salaries" higher than the published system‑wide salary at the designated rank and step are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Position Description The Sue & Bill School of Nursing at the University of California, Irvine is currently accepting applications for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Residency Program for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Year 1: Residency Training This is a full‑time program designed to develop expert family nurse practitioners equipped to serve diverse, underserved populations in community‑based healthcare settings. In partnership with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the residency includes: Direct, hands‑on experience in primary care within a community health setting, guided by a dedicated preceptor offering real‑time feedback Rotations through multiple specialty clinic sites, gaining exposure to complex and commonly encountered conditions in vulnerable populations Weekly didactic sessions and QI training to enhance clinical reasoning and systems‑based practice Mentored clinical experiences with an emphasis on navigating complex healthcare delivery Opportunity to build expertise in designing and delivering educational content Residents are appointed as Health Sciences Clinical Instructors in the school of nursing and the residency is overseen by the Nurse‑OC Program Manager. Eligibility and Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree Board‑certified and licensed to practice as an FNP in California by August 1st, 2026 Completed an accredited DNP‑FNP program within the past 24 months, no later than July 1, 2026 Application Requirements Document requirements Curriculum Vitae – the most recently updated C.V.
