Multiple contract opportunities are available with staggered start dates, including both leave-of-absence (LOA) and full-time positions for skilled Sign Language Interpreters. These roles are critical in fostering communication and promoting accessibility for students in junior high and academy settings, with a strong likelihood of assignment extension based on performance and district needs. Desired Skills and Experience: Proficient in ASL and experienced in educational interpreting, preferably at the junior high or high school level State licensure or certification for educational interpreting (if required by state law or regulations) Ability to provide clear, accurate interpreting of instructional and non-instructional communication Adaptable to varying student needs and comfortable working in diverse classroom and campus settings Experience supporting DHH students in academic and related service environments is highly valued Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, staff, and families during classes and school functions Work assigned hours on-site according to the designated school schedule, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch Serve as a communication bridge for specialized services such as OT, social work, and counseling sessions Flex between classrooms or roles, especially for the FLOAT position, to provide coverage district-wide and substitute for colleagues when needed Collaborate with educators and student support teams to ensure IEP goals are met Multiple roles are available, including our top priority: a semester-long LOA beginning August 20 through December 18, with possibilities for continued employment into the full school year.
