RN Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medical Surgical Unit is responsible for delivering compassionate, comprehensive nursing care during night shifts. This role involves supervising LPNs and nursing support staff, coordinating patient care, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment. The RN must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and crisis management skills while working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities:

• Identify and address patient needs with compassionate and comprehensive care.
• Supervise and provide guidance to LPNs and nursing support staff.
• Maintain accurate and organized patient records and prepare timely reports.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
• Manage supplies and equipment efficiently through strong organizational skills.
• Remain calm and professional during crisis or emergent situations, providing appropriate support.
• Utilize electronic records management systems proficiently.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active, unencumbered New York Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of RN Medical Surgical experience.
• Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Ability to lift heavy loads (45 pounds or more) and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• Normal vision and hearing.
• Ability to wear an N-95 respirator mask as required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Strong computer skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.

Special Considerations:

• Work involves night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Must work every other weekend and holidays as needed by the unit.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis and emergent situations.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Work every other weekend and holidays according to unit needs.
• Shift assignments are based on unit requirements and staffing needs.
