Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, hydraulics, or a related trade is a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Experience Requirements
3+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Field Service Technician, or Mobile Equipment Mechanic. Proven experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Experience servicing heavy construction equipment, commercial trucks, and fleet vehicles. Ability to independently troubleshoot equipment failures and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on excavators, dozers, skid steers, telehandlers, dump trucks, semi-trucks, and other heavy machinery. Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and equipment inspections. Ability to identify required parts, order materials, and document repairs. Comfortable working in both shop and field service environments. Experience responding to emergency equipment breakdowns and on-call service needs.
Physical Capabilities
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy tools, equipment, and components. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments. Ability to safely operate and test heavy equipment as part of the diagnostic and repair process.
Job Duties
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and heavy construction equipment. Travel to local job sites using a company-provided service truck to perform mobile repairs and emergency service calls. Perform diesel engine, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and equipment testing. Communicate repair status and equipment needs with operators, supervisors, and management. Maintain a safe, organized work area while following all company and job-site safety procedures. Support construction operations through reliable equipment repairs, occasional Saturday work, and scheduled on-call coverage as needed.
