CDL Driver

Class A CDL OTR Driver (Home Daily)

The Class A CDL OTR Driver safely and efficiently transports furniture and home goods using de-mountable containers from a distribution center to delivery locations across Wisconsin. This role focuses on transferring loaded containers to various delivery sites and returning with empty containers, while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements. The driver operates primarily within the state and is home each night. $2,500 sign on bonus available.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport furniture, appliances, electronics, and other home goods using de-mountable containers to various stores and delivery locations throughout Wisconsin.
• Transfer loaded de-mountable containers from the distribution center to designated delivery locations and return with empty containers.
• Operate Class A CDL vehicles in compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and company safety procedures.
• Follow safety regulations governing vehicle operation and ensure any passengers also adhere to all safety requirements.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment to confirm it is in good working order.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
• Report any vehicle issues, safety concerns, or incidents promptly and follow established procedures for resolution.
• Represent the company professionally when interacting with store personnel and other stakeholders at delivery locations.

Essential Skills

• Valid Class A CDL license.
• Clean driving record with a strong history of safe and responsible truck operation.
• Proven experience in truck driving, preferably with Class A CDL and OTR routes.
• Ability to operate and maneuver Class A commercial vehicles safely in various traffic and weather conditions.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to commercial vehicle operation and hours-of-service requirements.
• Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and identify basic mechanical or safety issues.
• Strong attention to detail in maintaining logs, documentation, and compliance records.
• Commitment to following company and regulatory safety procedures at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience transporting furniture, appliances, or electronics is beneficial.
• Familiarity with de-mountable containers and related loading/unloading processes.
• Good communication skills to interact with store personnel and internal team members.
• Ability to work a Friday to Monday schedule with a flexible start time between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• Reliability and punctuality to meet delivery schedules and route requirements.
• Basic mechanical awareness to recognize potential vehicle issues during inspections.

Work Environment

This position involves over-the-road (OTR) driving within the state, using Class A commercial trucks equipped for de-mountable container transport. The schedule runs Friday through Monday with a 10-hour workday and a start time that can be selected between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., allowing some flexibility in daily planning. Work is performed on the road and at distribution and store locations, requiring adherence to all safety procedures and regulatory standards in a professional driving environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $60000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
