Fitness Program Manager

Falcons Landing is looking for a Fitness Program Manager to join our Community Life Team in a full-time, exempt role with an attractive Monday – Friday schedule and outstanding benefits package. The successful candidate will manage the community Fitness Center and lead onsite fitness and wellness programming.  The Fitness Program Manager will have the creative control to develop a well-rounded fitness and wellness program to meet the needs of our independent living residents.  This role is ideal for a motivated fitness professional ready to grow into a leadership role.

Falcons Landing is a Life Plan Retirement Community located west of Washington, DC in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia.  We are a first-class Life Plan Community, privately held not-for-profit organization which provides an outstanding and caring work environment.  Falcons Landing has a wonderful combination of residential homes, spacious apartments and three high class healthcare residences.

Responsibilities:

• Manage community Fitness Center and lead onsite fitness and wellness programming.
• Supervise fitness team members and contractors.
• Set strategic goals for the Fitness/Wellness program including planning, implementing and evaluating fitness programs for residents.
• Conduct orientations and Senior Fit Testing for new residents to develop a personalized fitness prescription for each resident.
• Develop fitness programming appropriate for varying ability levels.
• Conduct group exercise classes in strength training, balance, flexibility, stretching, chair exercise, dance, low-impact cardio and water aerobics.
• Collaborate with our Rehabilitation team when residents require Rehabilitation Therapy in addition to their fitness program.
• Provide equipment oversight, safety monitoring, and resident instruction on proper exercise technique and machine use.
• Provide metrics, data and reports as requested.
• Maintain accurate attendance and participation records.

What you need:

• Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university in Kinesiology/Physiology or related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess competent knowledge of exercise principles, fitness testing, health risks and fitness program design.
• 1-2 years of management experience preferred.
• Exercise specialist certifications such as ACE Senior Fitness Specialist, ACE Group Exercise Certification, National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Exercise and Sports Training Association and/or National Council for Certified Personal Trainers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Experience in evaluating fitness programs for seniors is a plus.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in physical fitness, therapy, anatomy or related field preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a Pool Operator Certification through High Sierra, can be provided by Falcons Landing

What We Offer

• $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year, based on qualification and experience.
• • The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation range for this position and has been established based on the requirements and responsibilities of the role. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, industry experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
