This position is located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Department of Social Work Adult Medicine, Inpatient Social Work, Bethesda, Maryland.

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), formerly known as the National Naval Medical Center and colloquially referred to as Bethesda Naval Hospital, Walter Reed, or Navy Med, is a United States military medical center located in Bethesda, Maryland. It is one of the largest and most prominent military medical centers in the nation and has provided medical care for several U.S. presidents since its opening in 1940.

In 2011, the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), named after yellow fever researcher Walter Reed, was combined with the National Naval Medical Center to form the tri-service Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Social Worker you will:

• Collect bio-psychosocial information about patients using interview, case history, observation techniques, and assessment methods.
• Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy.
• Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop disposition planning.
• Function as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, presenting internal reports and participating in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments to patient's treatment plans as appropriate.
• Utilize electronic health record systems to document and review patient data.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations; providing individual or group treatment; developing discharge and treatment plans; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your license with your application package.)
