Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and result-driven Construction Project Manager to oversee our commercial and industrial project portfolio . In this role, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction planning, estimating, and value engineering through subcontractor management, scheduling, budget oversight, and final handover. (Pay is commensurate with experience)

Note: This position predominately manages commercial, retail, light industrial, manufacturing, and medical projects; it infrequently involves residential work.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Project Execution: Direct all phases of commercial and industrial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with plans and specifications.
• Pre-Construction & Estimating: Collaborate with owners, structural engineers, architects, and municipality officials during site planning, zoning, permitting, and budget development.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Qualify, negotiate, bid, and manage trade subcontractors and material suppliers. Coordinate pre-engineered metal building (PEMB/Nucor) procurement and delivery schedules.
• Budgeting & Cost Control: Manage financial performance, including contract administration, monthly billings (G702/G703), purchase orders, change order management, and budget variance tracking.
• Scheduling & Site Coordination: Maintain master construction schedules (using CPM or similar scheduling software). Work closely with field superintendents to ensure milestone accountability and daily progress.
• Client & Investor Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for project owners, tenants, and commercial partners, maintaining DBD’s core value of strong, repeat business relationships.
• Quality Assurance & Safety: Enforce strict quality control standards and job site safety compliance according to OSHA, state, and local commercial building codes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Verifiable experience as a Construction Project Manager leading commercial, light industrial, manufacturing, or retail projects.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial building systems, civil/site work, MEP installation, concrete, steel structures, and pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).
• Blueprint & Specification Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings, structural engineering plans, shop drawings, and MEP submittals.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor, Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project), Microsoft Excel, and estimating tools.
• Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean record; willingness to visit job sites throughout Southeast Michigan and surrounding regions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB)
• OSHA 10/30 Certification
• CAD experience is a plus
• PMP (Project Management Professional)
• Prior experience with design-build and commercial tenant improvements (TI)
• Design and Drafting experience
• Sage 100 Contractor Experience
• Microsoft Project (Or Similar scheduling tool)
