Food Safety Specialist

United Staffing Associates is working with our client to find a hands-on Food Safety Specialist to support daily bulk, repack, and regrade operations in a produce packing and processing environment. This on-site role ensures compliance with food safety, quality, sanitation, employee safety, and regulatory requirements through inspections, training, recordkeeping, corrective actions, and audit support. What You’ll Do Verify compliance with the company’s Food Safety Plan, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections and monitor cleaning and sanitation activities. Verify compliance with SSOPs and environmental monitoring programs, including EMP and ATP testing. Train Packing, Sanitation, and Quality Control personnel on food safety procedures and corrective actions. Supervise the cleaning team, including scheduling, task assignments, performance follow-up, and correction of non-conformities. Investigate, document, and follow through on claims, deviations, and non-conformities. Maintain accurate food safety records, including sanitation, food defense, inbound and outbound inspections, packaging materials, and chemical inventory. Support internal, customer, certification, and regulatory audits while maintaining an audit-ready environment. Maintain food safety documentation in the company’s data management platform. Monitor inventories of cleaning supplies and PPE and report packaging material movements. Partner with operations to uphold food safety, quality, occupational health, safety, and environmental standards. What You Bring Degree or equivalent experience in Food Technology, Agriculture, Biology, or a related field. At least two years of experience in produce packing or processing, including food safety program administration and personnel supervision. Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, environmental monitoring, sanitation, and corrective action processes. Experience conducting inspections, maintaining compliance records, and supporting audits. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn food safety and data management systems. Intermediate to advanced written and spoken English, with a willingness to continue developing proficiency. Strong organization, communication, analytical thinking, teamwork, initiative, and attention to detail. Ability to remain accurate, organized, and solution-focused in a fast-paced operational environment. Preferred Qualifications Training or experience with PrimusGFS, HACCP, EMP sampling, or SMETA. Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems or similar operational platforms. Experience leading sanitation or cleaning teams.
