Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients in diverse settings including patient service centers, mobile sites, long-term care facilities, and in-office locations.
• Prepare specimens for lab testing, ensuring accuracy and proper handling according to established procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients, establishing trust and confidence while maintaining a safe and professional environment.
• Provide coverage across multiple locations and roles as needed, supporting team operations and patient care demands.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors by mentoring new staff and acting as a resource for colleagues on site.
• Assist with onboarding new employees and provide guidance to staff on daily activities and procedures.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, including sales, laboratory testing services, IT connectivity, billing, and logistics, particularly when handling complex test orders or high-volume practices.
• Manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks.

Required Skills

• Ability to draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens in various settings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and team members effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills across multiple functions within the healthcare environment.
• Experience with data entry and keyboarding for accurate patient and specimen documentation.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and work efficiently under pressure.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Five years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of three years in a patient service center or in-office phlebotomy environment preferred.
• Experience in customer service within retail or service environments is a plus.
• Keyboard and data entry experience required.
• Must be able to work in a variety of healthcare settings, with flexibility to support different locations and schedules.
