Family Medicine, Virtual Primary Care Physician

WellMed Medical Group, a partner of the Optum Care network, is seeking an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join their Rockport clinic in Rockport, Texas, near Corpus Christi. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a clinician-led care organization focused on improving healthcare for everyone, supported by the extensive resources of Optum. Physicians will practice autonomously in an ambulatory setting, contributing new practice ideas and initiatives to advance community health. Practice Info Typically see 15 to 16 patients per day Physicians are measured and rewarded on quality of care, not RVU or volume metrics Strong clinical support team that includes NPs, PAs, RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT Collaborate with primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and a network of employed/contracted sub-specialists Practice medicine autonomously in an ambulatory setting partnering with primary care Compensation Guaranteed, competitive compensation model based on quality, not quantity, with significant earning potential, annual increases, and bonus eligibility Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $237,500 - $384,000 Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role Benefits Start with 23 days of PTO in first year, plus 5 days for CME, plus 9 holidays (the clinics are closed for 8 national holidays plus you receive one floating holiday) Robust retirement offerings including employer funded contributions and Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP for UHG Stock) Comprehensive benefits plan inclusive of medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, CME and malpractice coverage Robust clinician learning and development programs Financial stability and support of a Fortune 5 Company Incentive and recognition programs Equity stock purchase and 401k contribution Requirements Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S. Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine, or currently completing an accredited residency program Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment Valid DEA license, or the ability to obtain prior to employment Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency Preferred: A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
