Trial Attorney Take the lead on complex medical malpractice cases while joining a collaborative legal team where attorneys have the resources, support, and autonomy to do their best work. A well-established organization serving California physicians is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to lead medical malpractice defense matters through trial and arbitration. This attorney will manage litigation strategy, oversee discovery and investigation, appear in court, and work closely with claims professionals and internal legal support teams to deliver strong, cost-effective defense strategies. The ideal candidate is an accomplished California defense attorney with significant medical malpractice experience, strong first-chair trial capabilities, and the judgment to independently lead sophisticated cases while collaborating effectively with a close-knit team. Salary Range $195,000 - $200,000 / Year, DOE Responsibilities Serve as lead trial and arbitration attorney representing physicians, hospitals, and other covered healthcare entities in medical malpractice matters Develop and execute case strategy from initial evaluation through discovery, trial, arbitration, and resolution Prepare pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents Develop creative discovery and investigative strategies based on the facts and exposure of each case Handle court appearances, hearings, conferences, trials, and arbitrations as required Partner closely with claims professionals to develop defense strategies and manage matters efficiently and cost-effectively Lead attorneys and legal support professionals assigned to cases while ensuring timely communication with clients and claims teams Requirements Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar 8+ years of litigation experience with significant medical malpractice experience strongly preferred Several years of defense-side litigation experience required Meaningful trial experience with first-chair experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures, discovery, and courtroom practices Ability to independently develop case strategy and manage sophisticated medical malpractice matters Strong written advocacy, courtroom presence, communication, and client relationship skills Collaborative approach with the ability to lead attorneys and support staff effectively Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems such as Box Stable professional history with the ability to clearly articulate career transitions Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) plan PTO and paid holidays $5,000 annual auto allowance Discretionary performance and tenure-based bonus opportunities Hybrid work environment with two in-office days per week Annual performance reviews with opportunities for compensation growth #J-18808-Ljbffr
