Head Volleyball Coach

DEFINITION OF POSITION : To develop and maintain a successful athletic program and serve as the head 8th grade varsity coach.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Activities Director/Building Administrator

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Evidence of successful competitive coaching and/or playing experience
• Must be 21 years old per WIAA regulations
• Current First Aid/CPR card

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• College degree and/or teaching certificate
• Coaching experience at the middle school level

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES :

• Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete, teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively, and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
• Provide leadership for all levels of the athletic program
• Coordinate player development and skill level
• Cooperate with other school programs
• Develop support for the program from players, students, parents, and community
• Adjust system to player personnel available
• Make team participation a positive experience
• Inventory management
• Budget management
• Field/gym preparation
• Positive presentation of the program to the community
• Work within guidelines of WIAA, Bi-State League, and Pullman School District
• Direct all aspects of the sport
• Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies)
• Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
• Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
• Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
• Work with minimal supervision and be flexible

TERMS OF CONTRACT :

• Salary: Stipend Position: $3,098-$4,403 per school year - The filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.
