TITLE: Dean of Students

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To facilitate effective student management and maximize student learning and achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Valid West Virginia Certification 6-8 (Education Administration preferred)
• Masters' Degree preferred
• Demonstrated leadership quality
• Minimum of 10 years secondary teaching experience preferred
• Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely with correct grammar and spelling
• Ability to effectively deal with parents and students
• Ability to make sound, rational decisions
• Ability to utilize current technology for attendance record keeping
• Knowledge and understanding of the needs, laws, and procedures regarding the student management.
• Ability to assist with attendance reporting, referral and action procedures
• Currently employed full time at the middle school
• Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Dean of Students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

• Assist staff with student management processes.
• Participate in conferences with students/parents/teachers and others regarding student learning.
• Confer with parents and make home visits as needed
• Aid parents, faculty and student groups as requested in advising educational and related activities and objectives
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the principal.
• Collaborate with administration and faculty about student learning and achievement.
• Knowledge and understanding of West Virginia Next Generation Core Content Standards.
