About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside nursing care on a 40-bed cardiac step-down unit for patients presenting with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedural cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation)
• Safely administer and titrate cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
• Operate unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners; document accurately using Cerner EMR
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4, with stretch staffing up to 1:5 as needed
• Perform or assist with bedside cardioversion as indicated
• Float to Med-Surg units, other step-down units, COVID unit, and ER holding as needed

• Active RN license eligible to practice in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of step-down or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Demonstrated experience with titratable and cardiac IV medications
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

• Experience with prostacyclin therapies (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience
