Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Our client is a leading commissioning and mission-critical consultancy that partners with some of the world's largest data center operators, developers, and technology organizations. Due to continued growth across the data center sector, they are actively seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning projects throughout the United States.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to gain exposure to complex mission-critical facilities while working alongside experienced commissioning professionals on high-profile projects.

Your New Role

• Commissioning mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and associated controls.
• Reviewing design documents and providing technical feedback to project teams.
• Assisting with the development of commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts.
• Executing factory witness testing (FAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and functional performance testing.
• Documenting commissioning activities, deficiencies, observations, and test results.
• Evaluating system performance and providing technical recommendations.
• Coordinating with owners, contractors, vendors, design engineers, and project stakeholders.
• Assisting with project schedules, commissioning reports, and project documentation.
• Supporting client meetings and responding to technical inquiries.
• Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with project and site safety requirements.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
• 2+ years of experience within commissioning, mission-critical facilities, controls, building systems, MEP consulting, facilities engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working with data centers, critical facilities, healthcare, large commercial buildings, or other complex mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, BAS/BMS controls, and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and control sequences.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the United States as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data center commissioning experience.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines or BCxA best practices.
• Experience with BMS, EPMS, or controls systems.
• PE License, BCxA, CxA, CxM, or related commissioning certifications preferred but not required.
