Traveling Civil Engineer

Concrete Foundations & Water Tank Projects
Location: Nationwide (Up to 80% Travel)

UIG designs and constructs bolted steel water tanks and concrete foundations across the U.S. We’re seeking a hands-on Field Engineer with a Civil or Structural Engineering background to oversee foundation and site construction on industrial tank projects nationwide.

This is a traveling role — candidates outside Southern California are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect foundation and tank construction for compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and inspectors
• Enforce OSHA and site safety requirements
• Prepare daily reports, photos, and quality documentation
• Support QA/QC efforts including field checks, method statements, and hydrotests
• Provide field guidance and installation best practices to crews

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
• Bilingual - Spanish
• 3–5+ years construction or industrial field experience (foundations, tanks, heavy civil preferred)
• Strong understanding of concrete, grading, site prep, and materials testing
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and QC documentation
• Clear communication and reporting skills
• OSHA-30 (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid driver’s license and passport
• Comfortable with frequent nationwide travel
