A person in this position will work closely, daily, with other members of Engineering Operations to deliver test solutions and meet program deliverables. You will be expected to support complex projects and make some decisions with management support. The role will provide opportunity for hands-on involvement with Allison products, industrial test equipment, test operating controls systems, and powertrain systems including high horsepower engines, input and output dynamometers, propulsion systems, drivelines, heat exchangers, and cooling systems.Key Responsibilities:Plan, specify, design and analyze automotive powertrain test setupsSupport Test Engineering Technicians to install/configure test equipmentTroubleshoot faulty test equipment and implement corrective actionsParticipate in/lead program planning and status update meetingsParticipate in the management of test equipment inventory and forecast/prepare for future testing needsSupport and manage external support resources and associated contracts/ costsPropose and lead implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to promote efficiency, reduce costs, and create sustainable solutionsProviding decision-making and a high level of independent judgments based on experience and skill to achieve KPI objectivesWork cross functionally with EO and PE to understand and meet the needs of engineering programs on-time and within budgetSupport development and implementation of new test solutions to meet evolving industry needsLead implementation of applicable procedures and practicesEstablishes and updates best practices and standardized testing proceduresWorking with independent judgment and decision making with some management oversightAdheres to and strives to improve the engineering development processPropose, Implement and support safety policies and initiativesSupporting the day-to-day operations of testingExecuting other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering or equivalent degree/experienceExperience:5+ years of Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering experienceProficient in oral and written business communicationHigh level of interpersonal skillsAbility to set and meet goals for all deliverablesStrong mechanical/electrical aptitudeProficiency with computer operations, including Microsoft Office toolsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawingsAble to work independently with some directionAble and willing to make decisions and choose direction on technical aspects of role with limited informationStrong experience in laboratory test environmentFamiliarity with 3D modelling softwarePreferred ExperienceStrong knowledge of automatic transmissions and/or electric vehicle propulsion systemsExperience in automotive powertrain testing environmentExperience designing, analyzing, using, troubleshooting test equipmentDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systemsAllison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
