Overview
Researches and provides up-to-date information regarding the surveillance, investigation and evaluation of communicable or chronic diseases, injuries or conditions. Assists in the planning and implementation of epidemiological programs to prevent and control diseases, injuries, or conditions affecting the health of the Cherokee Nation's Indian population. Provides technical assistance and support to Cherokee Nation staff, and to various local, state, and federal agencies within the boundaries of their competence, based on their documented education, training, supervised experience, state and national professional credentials, and appropriate professional experience.
Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Master's degree; no substitutions. Required major field(s) of study in Public Health, Biology, Medical, or Health Science. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least one (1) year of experience in a related field. COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know database software, Internet software, spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Proof of at least twenty (20) hours of coursework in epidemiological methods, statistical methods, and analysis may be substituted for work experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Focus is Breast and Cervical Cancer.
