Summary

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Warfighter Defense & System Integration Department (W), EOD Information Management Division (W2), FMA&E Branch (W21) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $158,322).

Duties

Help

• You will serve as an Assistant Radiation Safety Officer of NSWC IHD W21 Branch and will assist the Command Radiation Safety Officer in the implementation and maintenance of the Radiation Safety Program within the branch.
• You will ensure the Program complies with DoN and other federal regulations and conditions of a Naval Radioactive Material Permit issued to the Command, its detachments, and sites that require this service.
• You will assist in the formulation of policy dealing with the controls for hazards associated with radiation sources and ensure the effectiveness of these measures.
• You will be responsible to the RSO for maintaining/updating policy on radiation safety, and provide advice and technical assistance on all matters related to radiation safety requirements and procedures within W21.
• You will develop, coordinate, and participate in training and orientation programs for occupationally exposed individuals and other personnel.
• You will be responsible for reviewing and approving all radiography operating documented procedures and equipment procedures; and perform detailed radiographic examinations on weapons systems/subsystems and ordnance.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing technical engineering services (e.g., exploitation and analysis of munitions, radiographic examination of weapons systems/subsystems or ordnance, maintenance on radiography equipment, utilizing radiation monitoring devices, maintaining radiography equipment inventory) in support of radiological control safety program to assess the collection and handling of foreign and domestic materiels for the purpose of ensuring safety and mission accomplishment.

The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
