POSITION SUMMARY: The District Attorney's Office for Osage and Pawnee Counties is seeking a highly motivated, ethical, and professional attorney to serve as an Assistant District Attorney in the Osage County office. This position offers an immediate opportunity to handle, with supervision and support, serious victim-centered prosecutions involving domestic violence, sexual violence, and crimes against children. Recent law school graduates and applicants who recently sat for the Oklahoma bar exam are encouraged to apply. The office will consider a conditional offer for the right candidate, contingent upon bar passage, admission to practice, and completion of any applicable hiring requirements. The position will involve close work with victims, law enforcement, child welfare, child advocacy centers, victim advocates, forensic interviewers, medical providers, and courthouse personnel. We are looking for someone who is eager to fight for justice for victims, protect the public, and develop as a courtroom prosecutor. Prior prosecution experience is helpful but not required. The right candidate must have strong judgment, excellent work ethic, high ethical standards, professionalism, and a genuine desire to do meaningful courtroom work. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant District Attorney will assist with and handle:
- Criminal prosecutions in Osage County.
- Cases involving domestic violence, sexual violence, crimes against children, and other victim-centered offenses.
- Court appearances, dockets, plea negotiations, preliminary hearings, motion practice, sentencing hearings, and jury trials.
- Victim and witness meetings.
- Case review, charging recommendations, plea recommendations, and trial preparation.
- Review of police reports, body camera evidence, digital evidence, forensic interviews, medical records, forensic evidence, and witness statements.
- Collaboration with law enforcement, child welfare, child advocacy centers, victim advocates, and other multidisciplinary partners.
- Ethical and professional decision-making based on the law, the facts, public safety, victim interests, and the duty to seek justice.
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Oklahoma bar admission, eligibility for Oklahoma bar admission, or pending Oklahoma bar results.
- A demonstrated interest in criminal law, prosecution, trial advocacy, victim advocacy, domestic violence, sexual assault prosecution, crimes against children, or public service.
- A willingness to appear in court, prepare cases, try cases, and accept responsibility.
- The ability to work well with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, courthouse staff, defense attorneys, and the public.
