Job Summary:

• Protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy.
• Ensures compliance with New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights.
• Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with UHS Hospitals policy.
• Ensure effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, and improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements.
• Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based practices into care.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties as assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as listed in the Compliance Matrix.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• CCRN.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the assigned unit.
