Project Controls Specialist

Overview We are seeking a Project Scheduler to support a portfolio of capital projects with a focus on schedule development, maintenance, and analysis. This role is best suited for someone with strong scheduling experience who can operate with a high degree of independence while partnering closely with Project Managers, project teams, and contractors to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and on budget. Key Responsibilities Support a portfolio of projects Partner directly with Project Managers and project teams to develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules Lead baseline schedule creation and approval efforts in collaboration with project stakeholders Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project scope and WBS Maintain project schedules with regular progress updates; revise forecasts and evaluate impacts of delays Identify and manage critical path activities; recommend mitigation strategies to address schedule risks or delays Communicate schedule status, key milestones, and risk areas to project management teams Perform detailed reviews of contractor schedule submittals, including baseline schedules and progress updates Ensure compliance with project controls and scheduling requirements Produce and publish standard schedule reporting, including critical path, lookaheads (2–4 week), milestone, and variance reports Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and best practices Required Experience 3-5 years of experience in project controls with a strong emphasis on project scheduling Advanced knowledge of scheduling principles, including critical path methodology and schedule forecasting Experience developing and managing project schedules using Primavera P6 Strong understanding of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and their integration with project schedules Experience supporting multiple projects and working directly with Project Managers and project teams Ability to analyze schedule performance and identify risks, delays, and mitigation strategies Preferred Experience Experience with Oracle Projects, Primavera P6, or similar systems Background supporting capital projects, engineering, or construction environments Exposure to process improvement or standardization efforts What We’re Looking For Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail Clear communication skills, especially when working with non-finance stakeholders Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume project environment Environment Team-oriented environment with established processes and tools Opportunity to support large-scale capital projects and work alongside experienced PMs Emphasis on continued development within project controls JoCo is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
