Assistant Teaching Professor

Responsibilities Advance research in real estate that intersects with urban and regional planning, urban technology, land and property markets, regulation, public‑private partnerships, urban economics, and community ownership models. Address timely problems such as housing affordability, sustainability, climate resilience, and urban development policy. Lead thought leadership for the professional real estate field and translate scholarship into practice for students. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the real estate area, including the new undergraduate minor and the graduate certificate in real estate development. Develop signature courses for the real estate minor and the graduate certificate, and teach current or future electives and core offerings in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning curriculum. Serve as a faculty member of the Weiser Center for Real Estate, contributing to the center’s activities and potentially directing the graduate certificate or the undergraduate minor. Teaching Expectations Teach four courses per year, all in person in Ann Arbor. Develop and deliver courses that integrate research and practice in real estate. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Service Contribute significant service to the Weiser Center for Real Estate. Assist in shaping curriculum, programming, and outreach for the real estate minor and graduate certificate. Qualifications Terminal degree (Ph.D. preferred) in urban and regional planning, real estate (finance or development), business administration, or a related field. Demonstrated experience or potential for conducting research in real estate that intersects with urban and regional planning or urban technology. Demonstrated experience or potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Knowledge of and/or experience with the real estate industry and its networks. Familiarity with analytic tools used in real estate research and practice. Commitment to the mission and values of the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
