You will work on sub-systems involving part handling, lighting, optics, and precision mechanics. Machine design at Retina Systems starts with understanding the functional requirements and deriving specifications. You will collaborate with project managers, vendors, and customers in a project team to develop concepts, build and test prototypes, generate detailed CAD designs, create engineering drawings, and support system integration and testing. Job responsibilities Design and detail components, systems, and complete machines to customer specifications Assist sales with technical inquiries and quoting Work with machinists and assembly technicians to bring your designs to life Interface with customers via phone, email, and occasional travel to customer sites Communicate with vendors to specify and find commercially available components Education BSME or equivalent experience Experience We are seeking an individual with a strong background in mechanical design and engineering. We would like an individual who can take responsibility of the full development cycle, from initial concept to product realization. A background in mechanical design of automation systems is desirable, as well as good complex mechanical system intuition. 2– 6 years of experience in machine design preferred, but will consider others with proven history Experience with 3D solid modeling for design conceptualization and realization. (SolidWorks preferred) Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and make practical recommendations. Machine shop experience a plus (ability to use manual knee mill, lathe) CAM experience preferred (programming and running a 3-axis mill) Experience with vibratory feeds systems is desirable Personal Skills and Qualifications A driven individual with an interest in hands-on projects Self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn Ability to perform in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines to achieve results on time Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents Potential to develop into a technical leader A working knowledge of machine and product design Quick learner with ability to apply new information or skills Customer oriented and willing to focus on customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, and efficiency Able to complete assignments with a high level of attention to detail Ability to establish professional working relationships with co-workers and customers Can convey ideas with open, clear, and concise communication Result driven-demonstrate accountability and ownership A creative engineer and inventor at heart; always keeps an open mind and can come up with new, out-of-the-box ideas #J-18808-Ljbffr
