Transdev in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Data Collector. The Data Collector conducts on‑board ride checks to collect accurate ridership data which is utilized to continuously improve customer service. Greater than 90% of work is accomplished by riding in‑service bus routes. Benefits Competitive starting pay rate of $18.00 – $19.00 per hour. Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks. Sick days: 5 days. Benefits may vary depending on location policy. The above represents the standard Corporate Policy. Key Responsibilities Conducts on‑board ride checks of passengers boarding. Alighting buses by location and time to provide Statisticians with data to compile into reports to enhance customer service. Conducts stationary checks of bus ridership and schedule adherence at maximum load points of routes, branch points and other special points. Evaluates bus stop/shelter usage when needed. Distributes survey questionnaires when needed. Performs weekly on‑board riding checks to determine fare payment methods or other necessary planning information per the City of Phoenix to achieve matching funds as required by the FTA. Works varied hours, days, and shifts, which may change on a frequent basis. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred. 3 years+ of supervisory experience. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office. Ability to use and master specialty transit related software programs. Ability to work effectively with little to no direct supervision. Ability to quickly gain a thorough understanding of routes, schedules, fare structures, rules, company policies and procedures, operator and supervisor manuals, as well as the operator labor agreement. Must possess the capability to work in a team‑oriented environment. Problem‑solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of two‑way radio systems is essential. Knowledge of the Metropolitan Phoenix area is a plus. Knowledge of or ability to learn the working systems of buses is a plus. Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed. Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason). Physical Requirements The essential functions of this position require the ability to work flexible work schedules as needed, sit for long periods of time under extreme weather conditions, and ride in‑service bus routes.
