Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Seeking dedicated Sign Language Interpreters for contract roles supporting students in structured school environments near Round Lake, IL. Multiple opportunities are available for the 2026–2027 school year, working onsite within either a high school or an elementary-to-middle school setting. These positions involve close collaboration with educators and students to facilitate communication and access to curriculum.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (documentation required; no exceptions)
- Demonstrated skill interpreting for either high-school or K–8 grade levels
- Experience working in educational or special education environments preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly to varying classroom and student needs
- Professionalism, strong ethics, and a collaborative spirit
Role Details:High School Setting (Grades 9–12)
- Academic year: August 10, 2026 – May 20, 2027
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–3:30 pm (35 hours/week)
- Caseload: 12 students, interpreting for 1–3 per class
Elementary/Middle School Setting (K–8)
- Academic year: August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 am–3:45 pm (35 hours/week)
- Caseload: 30 students, interpreting for 1–5 per class
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation in classroom and school activities
- Foster clear communication between students, educators, and peers
- Support individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt to the unique needs of each student
- Maintain confidentiality and follow school guidelines
