Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a night shift position at a large multi-campus hospital system in Toledo, OH, requiring an active Ohio RRT license and comfort with all patient age groups.

Details

• Large 700-bed acute care hospital with 7 adult ICUs (16 beds each), pediatric units, and adult acute care
• Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and pediatric patients, including Peds ER; comfort with all age groups required — specific pediatric hospital experience is not required
• Floating required as needed across multiple campuses within the Metro Region (Toledo, Flower, and Bay Park hospitals), including mid-shift floating
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• High-risk experience preferred; candidates without high-risk experience must be open to on-site high-risk training
• EMR: Epic (required)
• Equipment experience: Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
• Airway management responsibilities include endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal and oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care
• Ventilator management includes BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Medication administration includes Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
• Oxygen therapy includes high-flow nasal cannula and trach collar
• Nebulizer use includes handheld, T-piece, and trach collar setups
• Changing tubing and bags for invasive and arterial lines is an RRT responsibility at Toledo and Bay Park campuses (preferred experience)
• Scrub color: Grey

Requirements

• Active Ohio RRT license required (license required if applicable)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP (NRP must be obtained prior to start date)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in adult critical care and/or emergency department settings
• Comfort with basic pediatric respiratory therapy care required across all patient ages
• ABG interpretation skills required
• Experience with airway management devices, suctioning, and ventilator management as listed in job details
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration

Additional Information

• Treats and educates patients across all diagnoses including asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and non-pulmonary conditions
• Performs both general and critical care respiratory therapy including medication delivery, bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, initiation and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation, airway management, cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assist, extubation, and maintenance of indwelling lines
• Responds to rapid response calls and emergency codes; performs CPR
• Performs blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, and spontaneous breathing parameter assessments
• Assists with bronchoscopy care and high-risk deliveries
