Job Title: Senior Estimator / Director of Preconstruction - Federal / DoD Projects


Location: United States (Travel as Needed) Job Type: Full-Time

Job Overview: We are seeking a Senior Estimator / Director of Preconstruction with 10-15 years of experience working for a General Contractor on institutional and federal (DoD) construction projects. This individual will play a critical leadership role in preconstruction, budgeting, and client development for projects ranging from $20M to $70M. Candidates must have a stable work history and a proven track record of success delivering accurate estimates on complex government projects.


Must-Have Requirements (Please Do Not Apply If You Do Not Meet These):

• 10-15 years of estimating and/or preconstruction experience
  
  
• Experience working for a General Contractor (GC)
  
  
• Proven experience on federal and/or DoD construction projects
  
  
• Experience with project values ranging from $20M-$70M
  
  
• Stable work history (no job hopping)
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead preconstruction efforts from concept through GMP development
  
  
• Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, and final estimates
  
  
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents
  
  
• Manage subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope analysis
  
  
• Develop budgets, cost models, and value engineering strategies
  
  
• Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive teams
  
  
• Interface with clients, owners, and government agencies
  
  
• Identify risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for cost savings
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  
  
• Strong knowledge of federal procurement processes (FAR / DFARS)
  
  
• Experience with design-build and negotiated work
  
  
• Proficiency in estimating software (Sage, WinEst, OST, or similar)
