Environmental Engineering - AI Data Trainer
Alignerr
Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer AI is increasingly being used to reason through complex environmental challenges — but it needs expert guidance to get it right. We're looking for environmental engineers to help train and improve advanced AI models by stress‑testing their knowledge, identifying gaps, and building the gold‑standard solutions that make these systems smarter and safer. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep technical expertise in a new frontier: shaping how the next generation of AI understands water treatment, air quality, waste management, and environmental compliance. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Expert‑Level Problems – Develop complex, domain‑specific challenges spanning contaminant transport, wastewater process design, hydrology, pollutant dispersion, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) Author Gold‑Standard Solutions – Write rigorous, step‑by‑step technical solutions, including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and mass balance analyses, that serve as the benchmark for AI responses Audit AI Outputs – Evaluate AI‑generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and engineering calculations for technical accuracy, regulatory adherence (EPA, ISO 14001), and safety Improve AI Reasoning – Identify logical errors in AI thinking, such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed hydraulic assumptions, or failure to account for secondary environmental impacts, and provide structured, expert feedback Work Independently – Complete task‑based assignments on your own schedule, with full flexibility over when and how much you work Who You Are Advanced Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with environmental focus), or a closely related field — Master's (pursuing or completed) or Ph.D. Deep Domain Knowledge in one or more of: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, hazardous waste remediation, or EHS compliance Strong Analytical Writer – able to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and precisely in written form Detail‑Oriented – comfortable checking unit conversions (mg/L, ppm, etc.), chemical equations, and regulatory logic with a high degree of precision No prior AI experience required – if you know environmental engineering, we'll handle the rest Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, data labeling, or evaluation systems Familiarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, SWMM, GoldSim) Background in EHS consulting, regulatory compliance, or environmental impact assessment Why Join Us Work on cutting‑edge AI projects alongside world‑leading AI research teams Fully remote and flexible – work on your own schedule, from anywhere Freelance autonomy: you choose your hours and workload (10–40 hrs/week) Apply your expertise to meaningful work that shapes how AI understands the natural world Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as projects grow #J-18808-Ljbffr Alignerr
