Outpatient Play Therapist
Turing Point is focused on working to build strong families and help the communities we serve addressing mental health and substance use.
Among the current suite of services, we offer Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program, Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program, Behavior Coaching and Family Services, DUI/DWAI services, Individual and Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and ADHD testing. Services are offered in-home, in the community, or from either outpatient facility (913 11th Ave in Greeley and 1644 S. College Ave in Fort Collins). We have contracts with DHS and DYS, and also provide services to youth, families, and adults not involved in the system.
Position Summary
Provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed play therapy services to children and families by developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating treatment plans for an assigned caseload. The Play Therapist is able to facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions and functions. Therapist will also maintain a youth and adult caseload in addition to the Play Therapist role.
Role Qualifications
- Master's degree in mental health discipline.
- Must be licensed or licensed-eligible in the state of Colorado and able to practice independently or under appropriate supervision.
- Registered Play Therapist (RPT) preferred or equivalent play-therapy-specific coursework and/or supervised experience will be considered.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in client assessment, treatment planning, and implementation; preference given to experience working with children and families.
- Demonstrated training or experience in trauma-informed, attachment-based, and developmentally appropriate treatment modalities.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary treatment teams, agency administrators, and external partners.
- Strong time management, documentation, and organizational skills; proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to serve as a professional representative of the agency when interacting with clients, families, referral sources, licensing entities, and the community.
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate client and family needs, including evenings and/or after-school hours.
Position Responsibilities
- Development and Implementation of Client Services:
- Review each new client's comprehensive history, referral information, and previous treatment records.
- Develop and implement individualized, play therapy-informed treatment concerns, and recommended interventions.
- Share treatment recommendations and progress updates with caregivers and treatment team members, as appropriate.
- Participate actively in admission, treatment planning, discharge, and after care planning processes.
- Complete discharge summaries and transition planning for assigned clients.
- Ensure treatment plans are reviewed, updated, and modified according to clinical need and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain availability for consultation regarding client crises, consistent with contractor agreements and agency expectations.
- Ensure all documentation meets Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), licensing, and payer standards.
- Direct Care:
- Assume primary responsibility for an assigned caseload, including assessment, treatment planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of services.
- Facilitate individual play therapy, family therapy, individual and group sessions as clinically indicated.
- Utilize evidence-based and play therapy-specific interventions aligned with be practice standards.
- Communicate regularly with the treatment team regarding client progress, significant events, risks, or concerns.
- Document all clinical services accurately and timely within the agency's EHR system.
- Maintain responsibility for client records and compliance with licensing, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and coordinate discharge and transition plans, including referrals and community resources, for assigned clients.

- Work within the bounds of professional protocol, in all manner of speaking. (PPPM-Section 1080 3.e.)

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds (physical).
- Ability to use computerized client database systems for documentation and record keeping (visual).
- Ability to communicate with clients, families, referral agents and other professionals in person, by telephone and by email (verbal, visual, hearing).
- Ability to climb stairs to access clients at all times in the buildings (physical).
*Bilingual Compensation
This position is eligible for a bilingual pay increase for candidates who demonstrate professional proficiency in English and a second language that is directly used in the performance of the role. Bilingual employees are expected to use both languages regularly to communicate with clients and internal teams. Eligibility for, and continuation of, bilingual pay is contingent upon verified language proficiency and the ongoing business need to use both languages in the position.
