Farm Camp Counselor

About The Internship Are you at least 16 years old, enjoy being outdoors, working with kids, and getting your hands in the dirt? Join the team at Mountain Roots Education this summer as a counselor at Sweet Roots Farm Camp! This job is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience, learn about small‑scale organic farming, and be part of a team that’s growing healthy food for local schools and the community. As a counselor, you’ll assist our Farm Camp Educator in teaching and supervising campers ages 7–13. You'll help lead games, garden projects, and nature‑based activities, while also learning how to grow and cook with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Counselors will help care for the garden, and much of the food you help grow will be served in the school district cafeterias in the fall. What You’ll Do Assist with teaching and supervising kids during farm camp activities Support gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting Help maintain outdoor learning spaces Learn about organic farming, food systems, and how to cook simple, healthy meals Be a role model for younger campers and a positive part of the farm team Participate in an orientation and ongoing hands‑on learning throughout the summer Schedule & Commitment Orientation Day: One or more days during the week of June 15th (required) Camp Sessions: One to four 8‑hour days (8am‑4pm) per week (Monday–Thursday), June 29 – week of August 3rd (time away can be negotiated). Number of days per week will depend on number of counselors hired Who Should Apply Enjoys working with children and being part of a team Is curious about gardening, food, farming, and the environment Is dependable, enthusiastic, and willing to get dirty Can commit to the full schedule No prior farm or teaching experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and a positive attitude! Must be able to work outdoors in all summer weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
