Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care hospital PCU License: Current Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital PCU experience BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications Description: This is a travel RN position in a progressive care unit. The unit has 24 beds. The staff consists of a day charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, and 2-3 patient care technicians. There is a night charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, and 2 patient care technicians. Patient ratios are 5:1. Equipment used includes tele monitoring and post-operative monitoring devices. The electronic medical record system is Meditech. Candidates with strong cardiac experience and prior Meditech experience will be prioritized. Typical procedures on this unit include post-operative recovery of surgical patients and patients from the cath lab. The patient population includes elective orthopedic, spine, and gynecological surgeries. Elective cath lab procedures such as post-PCI, post-pacemaker, ablation, cardioversion, and re-vascularization are also managed. Patients presenting with stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, and respiratory failure are cared for as well. There is a set rate for cardiac drips, which are non-titrating except for heparin. The unit has a modified self-scheduling process, allowing schedules to be posted three weeks in advance. This provides ample time for staff to arrange trades for any scheduling conflicts. The unit boasts a state-of-the-art environment with ADA/bariatric rooms and Hoyer lifts. There is an excellent unit culture with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. The staff brings a wide range of nursing experience.
